Idukki Court Sentences 44 Years Old Man To Death For Murdering Minor Girl & Raping Her Sister

A special POCSO court here on Saturday sentenced a 44-year old man to death for murdering his relative and a minor girl.

The court also awarded him jail term till the end of his natural life for raping her minor sister in 2021.

The special court sentenced Idukki resident Sunil Kumar to jail sentence till the end of his natural life in a case registered at the Vellathooval police station.

The case is registered under offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

Further, the man here is accused of grievously injuring the mother and the grandmother of the victims on the fateful night of October 3, 2021.

The prosecution stated that the man, who had enmity towards the family, entered into the house of deceased child and then hammered her to death and also injured her mother.

Later, he went to the nearby house attacked the grandmother and the elder sister of the deceased child who were sleeping. He brutally assaulted the grandmother and also raped the 14-year-old girl.

Furthermore, the incident came to light when the child escaped and informed the neighbours.

The death sentence was awarded in the murder case of the minor child while imprisonment till the end of natural life was granted in the other cases of rape and assault.
