India Launches Operation Sindoor In Retaliation For Pahalgam Terror Attack

In a decisive move following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists, India initiated “Operation Sindoor” on May 6, targeting alleged terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Background Of The Case

The operation involved coordinated airstrikes on nine locations, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Muzaffarabad, identified by Indian intelligence as hubs for groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Indian officials described the strikes as “measured and precise,” aiming to dismantle terror networks without escalating into broader conflict.

Pakistan reported civilian casualties, including the deaths of at least 13 individuals, among them children, and damage to religious sites. In response, Pakistan conducted retaliatory strikes, leading to further military engagements along the Line of Control.

The international community, including the United Nations, has expressed concern over the escalating tensions, urging both nations to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to prevent further deterioration of regional stability.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, overseeing the operation, emphasized India’s commitment to combating terrorism while maintaining regional peace. The situation remains fluid, with diplomatic efforts underway to de-escalate the conflict and address the underlying issues contributing to the hostilities.
