Bollywood star Salman Khan has informed the police that he suspects the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the shooting at his residence in April this year, aiming to kill him and his family. This revelation is part of the charge sheet recently filed by Mumbai Police.
According to Khan’s statement, he heard a noise similar to fireworks while asleep at his Galaxy Apartments residence on April 14. His bodyguard alerted him around 4:55 a.m. that two individuals on a motorcycle had fired shots at his first-floor balcony.
Khan mentioned that there had been previous threats to him and his family. His bodyguard had reported the incident to the Bandra police station. Later, Khan discovered that Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi had taken responsibility for the attack in a Facebook post. The actor stated that Bishnoi and his gang had previously threatened to kill him and his relatives.
In addition to the April shooting, Khan reported receiving threats in the past few years, including a threat letter found in 2022 and an email threat from the Bishnoi gang in March 2023. In January 2024, two individuals attempted to break into his farmhouse near Panvel using fake identities.
The Mumbai Police have filed a 1,735-page charge sheet in the case before a special court for Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) cases. The court has reviewed the charge sheet and determined that there is sufficient evidence to proceed against the six arrested suspects.
The arrested individuals are Vickykumar Gupta, Sagarkumar Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, Anujkumar Thapan (now deceased), Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, and Harpal Singh. Thapan allegedly committed suicide in police custody, while the remaining five are currently in judicial custody.
