Israel Embassy Blast: Delhi Police Registers FIR against ‘Unknown Individuals’

An FIR has been registered by Delhi Police at the Tughlaq Road police station concerning the suspicious blast near the Israel Embassy on December 26, as per Delhi Police sources.

Simultaneously, the top officials of the NSG bomb squad team have notified that a sealed report regarding the blast near the Israel embassy will be provided to the Delhi Police.

Delhi Police has indicated that the component of the blast is yet to be determined, and as a result, they are awaiting forensic reports.

On Wednesday, forensic experts from the National Security Group (NSG) and Delhi Police collected samples of leaves and soil from the blast site.

A comprehensive search operation has been initiated by Delhi Police in the entire area, involving the interrogation of individuals who were present near the site prior to the incident. Extensive questioning has been conducted with taxi and auto drivers who traversed Prithvi Raj Road and Abdul Kalam Road.

After receiving a call on Tuesday reporting a ‘blast’ near the Israeli Embassy in the Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave, Delhi Police investigated the scene but found no evidence of such an incident.

Paramilitary forces have been deployed outside the Israeli Embassy in Delhi two days after the police received the report of a ‘blast’ in the vicinity.

The sound of the blast was heard by a security official near the Israel embassy, who promptly informed a member of the FSL team. Subsequently, an investigation was carried out by Delhi Special Cell, Dog Squad, and NIA officials outside the Israel Embassy.

Following an examination of CCTV footage, Delhi Police have identified two ‘suspects,’ although their involvement has not been officially confirmed.

Ohad Nakash Kaynar, Israel’s Deputy Ambassador to India, confirmed the safety of all workers and diplomats at the Israel embassy. He stated, “All our workers are safe, and all our diplomats are safe. Our security teams are working in full cooperation with the local Delhi security and they will investigate the matter further.”

A security guard near the embassy reported, “I heard a loud noise at around 5 p.m. The noise was similar to a tyre burst. I also saw smoke going up near a tree.”
