Amritpal Singh, who is the Lok Sabha MP from Khadoor Sahib, is originally from Jallu Kheda village in Amritsar and is currently imprisoned in Dibrugarh Jail, Assam. He lived in Dubai before returning to Punjab in 2022, following the death of Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu. Upon his return, he became the leader of Deep Sidhu’s pro-Khalistani organization, Waris Punjab De.

The Punjab Police charged Amritpal Singh under the National Security Act (NSA), leading to his confinement in Dibrugarh Jail.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Amritpal Singh won the Khadoor Sahib seat. He was recently granted a four-day custody parole and brought to Delhi to take the oath as a Lok Sabha member.
