J&K People’s Conference Leader Imran Ansari Booked for Alleged Assault on Polling Official

Imran Ansari, leader of the People’s Conference, has been booked for allegedly assaulting a police officer and a polling official during the ongoing voting process at a booth in Baramulla district during the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections on Monday.

P K Pole, Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, has initiated a request for a report from the Baramulla SSP regarding the incident.

The altercation allegedly occurred at a polling station in Baramulla’s Pattan area, where Ansari purportedly assaulted the polling official and a police officer. Two separate first information reports (FIR) have been lodged against him under the relevant sections of the Representation of People’s Act, as per officials.
