President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva as the new officiating Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
This appointment follows the appointment of Justice Sheel Nagu as Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as per the notification issued by the Union Law and Justice Ministry.
Justice Sheel Nagu had been serving as acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court following the retirement of Chief Justice Ravi Malimath on May 24, 2024.
Justice Sachdeva enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi in 1988. He qualified as an Advocate on Record of the Supreme Court in June 1995 and was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Delhi High Court in July 2011. He was elevated to an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court on April 17, 2013, and was appointed as a Permanent Judge on March 18, 2015.
On March 3, Justice Sachdeva expressed his willingness to be transferred to any High Court. He was transferred to the Madhya Pradesh High Court on May 31, 2024.
