A significant development come in to light in Kanjhawala accident that the deceased was not alone when the accident took place, one another girl (probably a friend of the deceased) was also injured. Police sources said that she fled from the spot where the accident took place.

Following protests over an allegedly “shoddy investigation,” police added culpable homicide to the case against a 20-year-old woman who was killed in the early hours of the New Year when a motorist struck her scooter and dragged her 12 kilometres under the car on the city’s highways.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) took cognizance on Monday and requested specific action in addition to the medical reports. Swati Maliwal, the head of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), also took notice of the situation and issued a notice to the Delhi police.
According to the authorities, the woman was killed after being struck by a car and dragged along the road for over twelve kilometres while being caught in the wheels.
The mother of the deceased has claimed that her daughter was sexually assaulted by the five accused males when she was discovered naked. The claims, however, have been refuted by the police.
The Union Home Ministry on Monday assigned Delhi Police Special Commissioner Shalini Singh the task of probing into the Kanjhawala case. The Central Government has also mandated that the Delhi Police Commissioner deliver the investigation report as soon as possible. The five defendants in the Kanjhawala case have been sent to police custody for three days by Delhi’s Rohini court.
Given the gravity of the situation, all five defendants were brought before the judge at Rohini Court. The Delhi Police requested remand from the court in order to interrogate the accused. The court then sent all the accused to police remand for three days.
Early on Sunday morning, the Kanjhwala police station received a PCR call reporting the discovery of a car dragging a body. At 4:11 am, a second PCR call was made regarding the girl’s body lying on the road. The girl’s body was sent to the SGM hospital in Mangolpuri, where she was declared dead. The body was kept in the hospital mortuary.
