The Kerala government has recently made a historic decision by introducing reservations for transgender persons in nursing courses in the State.
Veena George, the State Health Minister, recently announced that one seat each has been allocated for transgender candidates in BSC Nursing and General Nursing courses.
This marks the first time in history that such reservations have been implemented for transgender individuals in the nursing sector. The health minister highlighted that this move is part of a series of measures taken by the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) government to empower and uplift the transgender community
“This government has taken many steps to uplift the transgender community. It is in continuation of that reservation has been extended to the health sector as well“, the announcement reads.
