An FIR has been recently lodged at the Barrackpore cyber cell against two Kolkata girls for allegedly mocking India’s national anthem while smoking cigarettes. A video of them was widely shared on social media.
According to a senior officer in the Barrackpore Commissionerate, the police have taken statements from both females. “The investigating agency is in touch with Facebook seeking relative data,” the officer stated.
According to police sources, once the video went viral and sparked a social media backlash, the girls then removed the video from Facebook.
The females were shown on a video singing the National Anthem while sitting and smoking a cigarette in hand. The two females are minors.
