K’taka Woman Files Complaint Against Husband for Giving Triple Talaq via WhatsApp

Triple Talaq

A woman from Dakshina Kannada district has filed a complaint at the Sullia police station against her husband, alleging that he gave her triple talaq via WhatsApp, as reported by the police on Monday.

The woman’s husband is employed overseas, and the couple has two daughters.

The accused, Abdul Rasheed, is originally from Thrissur in Kerala. He had married a woman from Jayanagar in Sullia taluk in Dakshina Kannada district seven years ago. Two years ago, Abdul had taken his wife abroad, but later, during her second delivery, he left her in Sullia.

Police have stated that while the couple had recently experienced some discord, the issue had been resolved with the intervention of elders. However, the man has now initiated divorce proceedings through triple talaq on WhatsApp.

The Sullia police are currently investigating the case.
