KTR Refuses ACB Inquiry Without Lawyer, Returns Amid High Drama

A dramatic scene unfolded on Monday morning in Hyderabad when BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) arrived at the ACB office for questioning related to the Formula E race case.

KTR claimed that police had prevented his lawyers from accompanying him inside the office for the inquiry. After a standoff lasting nearly 45 minutes, KTR handed over a written response to ACB officials and left, returning to the BRS headquarters at Telangana Bhavan.

The ACB had summoned KTR to record his statement in connection with the Formula E race case, which involves allegations of a Rs 45 crore transfer to the foreign company Formula E Organisers (FOE). In his written response, KTR stated that he was willing to cooperate, but only in accordance with his constitutional and legal rights. He also pointed out that the ACB’s notice lacked details on the specific documents or information it sought from him.

“In your notice, you have not provided details of the information and documents requested from me concerning the case. Kindly provide those details so that I can take the necessary steps after being given a reasonable time,” KTR wrote in his letter to the agency.

Sources close to the matter suggest that the ACB may now consider KTR’s reply and issue a fresh notice for him to appear in person to record his statement.

KTR also took the opportunity to criticize Congress leader Revanth Reddy, accusing him of orchestrating police actions and manipulating law enforcement agencies. “They are planning to send an ED team to my house, and I suspect they might plant evidence,” KTR said, adding that he is a law-abiding citizen and willing to appear before the ACB but insisted on having his lawyer present. He further expressed distrust in the government and the police, claiming they were acting under the influence of “a third-rate criminal like Revanth Reddy.”

The BRS leader also questioned the ACB’s summons, pointing out that the Telangana High Court had granted him interim relief from arrest, making the demand for his appearance unclear. This ongoing drama has added further tension to the already volatile political atmosphere surrounding the Formula E race case.
