Land for Job Scam: CBI Submits Additional Charge Sheet in Rouse Avenue Court

Rouse Avenue

On Wednesday, the CBI submitted an additional charge sheet to a Rouse Avenue court regarding the purported Railways’ land-for-jobs scandal implicating RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and several relatives.

Special Judge Vishal Gogne received the final report against three individuals, including two candidates, Ashok Kumar and Babita, along with Bhola Yadav, who served as Lalu Prasad’s personal secretary.

The judge is slated to review the charge sheet’s contents on March 14.

Earlier, on February 28, the court granted bail to former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and her daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav in connection with the same case.

The scandal revolves around alleged Group-D appointments within the West Central Zone of the Railways, headquartered in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as railway minister from 2004 to 2009. Reportedly, these appointments were facilitated in exchange for land parcels purportedly bestowed upon or transferred to Lalu Prasad’s family or associates.

The CBI initiated the case on May 18, 2022, implicating Prasad and 15 others, including his wife, two daughters, and unspecified public servants and private individuals.
