A law student was reportedly assaulted by men working for a cycle stand contractor after he requested a receipt for the parking fee at the district collector’s office in Jabalpur, as per a police official.

Who?

The incident occurred when Komal Singh (23), a member of the Mahakoushal Law Student Association, visited the collector’s office for some errands and parked his bicycle at the designated stand.

Reason

Upon leaving the collector’s office, Singh was asked to pay a parking fee by the stand operator. When he asked for a receipt, he was allegedly attacked by the operator’s men, the official stated.

Singh informed his fellow association members about the incident, prompting them to rush to the scene and stage a protest, demanding action against the operator and his associates.

Probe

Initial investigations revealed that the cycle parking area was being unlawfully operated by the contractor, as his agreement had expired some time ago, according to the official.

Following the victim’s complaint, an FIR was lodged against the contractor, identified only as Nattu, and his two associates, Shambhu and Saddam, stated Omti police station in-charge Virendra Singh.
