Lured, Drugged & Assaulted: 19-Year-Old Claims ‘Rape’ By 23 In 7 Days In Varanasi

A shocking incident of gang rape has recently come to light in Varanasi, where a 19-year-old girl has alleged that she was raped by 23 men over a period of 7 days.

The girl, who left her home on March 29, claimed that she was sexually assaulted by the accused after being drugged at various locations, including a café and a hookah bar.

FIR Lodged

The girl’s mother filed a written complaint with the police, naming 12 of the accused and describing the remaining 11 as unidentified men. Based on the complaint, an FIR was lodged under various sections of the BNS, including gang rape, outraging modesty, and criminal intimidation. The police have arrested six of the accused so far, and further legal formalities are underway.

Investigation Underway

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Varuna Zone), Chandrakant Mina, stated that the girl’s family reported her missing on April 4, after she left home on March and did not return or contact any family member. The girl returned home on the same day, but the family did not file a complaint. However, when her mother’s complaint was received, the case was registered, and the arrests of the accused started.

Medical Test Conducted

The survivor was initially unwilling to undergo a medical test but was counselled and sent to the hospital on Monday evening. The medical test will be conducted to gather further evidence in the case.

Police Raids Continue

Three police teams are continuing raids to arrest the remaining accused. The police are working to identify the unidentified men and bring them to justice. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to gather more evidence in the case.
