The Maharashtra cyber cell has summoned actor Tamannaah Bhatia regarding her alleged promotion of viewing IPL matches on a subsidiary app of the Mahadev online gaming and betting application, officials stated on Thursday.
Bhatia is renowned for her roles in films such as “Baahubali” and the Netflix anthology “Lust Stories 2”.
As per a senior police official, the actor has been directed to appear before the Maharashtra cyber personnel on April 29, 2024.
Bhatia has been summoned by the Maharashtra cyber cell for purportedly endorsing the viewing of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on the Fairplay betting app, the official stated.
Officials indicated that some IPL matches were unlawfully streamed on the app in 2023, referencing a complaint filed in this matter.
The actor has been called to provide her statement as a witness in the case, an official confirmed.
Furthermore, the Maharashtra cyber cell has already recorded statements from singer Badshah and the managers of actors Sanjay Dutt and Jacqueline Fernandez in connection with the case, the official added.
The Mahadev app has come under scrutiny from various investigative agencies regarding alleged illegal transactions and betting.
