Maharashtra Police Files Case against Man for Sharing Voting Videos on Social Media

Police in Maharashtra’s Raigad district have registered a non-cognisable case against a voter who recorded videos on his mobile phone while casting his vote on Tuesday and subsequently shared them on various social media platforms, an official stated.

Where?

The incident occurred in the afternoon at polling booth no. 244 in Revdanda during the voting for the Raigad Lok Sabha constituency.

Who?

The voter, identified as Prasad Sharad Gondhali, reportedly used his mobile phone to create a video recording of the voting process, including casting his vote for a particular candidate, according to the official.

Shared on Social Media

After recording the videos and creating reels, the accused allegedly posted them on his Instagram account and set them as his WhatsApp status message, the official added.

Due to the violation of secrecy norms concerning the voting process, a complaint was lodged against him on behalf of the government at the Revdanda Police Station.

Consequently, a non-cognisable case was filed against the voter, the official confirmed.
