Police have filed a case against a man following the death of his female friend in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district three days ago when a car she was driving fell into a valley, an official stated.
Her friend, Suraj Mule has been charged under Section 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code for causing death by negligence. According to the official, he handed over the car keys to the woman without confirming whether she possessed a driving license.
Shweta Survase (23) died on Monday afternoon after inadvertently pressing the accelerator while the car was in reverse gear. Mule was reportedly filming her at the time of the incident, as per earlier police statements.
The vehicle slid backward, broke through a crash barrier, and plunged into the valley in Sulibhanjan area. It took rescuers an hour to reach the site and retrieve both her and the vehicle. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
An official from Khultabad police station mentioned that a case was registered on Tuesday against Mule for allegedly causing death due to negligence.
“We will be issuing a notice to the accused in accordance with legal guidelines,” the official stated.
Shweta’s cousin Priyanka Yadav has accused the accused of plotting the murder.
“We were informed about Shweta’s death five to six hours after the accident. She never made any reel or posted it on social media platforms. The accused planned the murder and took her 30-40 km away from the city,” Priyanka alleged.
