The Gondia court in Maharashtra on Saturday sentenced a man to 30 years in jail for raping a 6-year-old girl in 2021.
Previously, Principal District and Sessions Judge AT Wankhede found Mahesh Tembhurne (32) guilty and handed him a 20-year prison term under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, along with a 10-year sentence under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, according to Assistant Government Pleader Kailash Khandelwal.
Khandelwal highlighted that the sentence will be served consecutively, resulting in a total of 30 years of imprisonment for Tembhurne.
The assistant government pleader stated, Tembhurne was also fined Rs 10,000.
Tembhurne lured the victim with a chocolate in October 2021 and subsequently raped her in an isolated location.
A case was filed, and the Keshori police initiated an investigation, he added.”
