Massive Narcotics Bust: Punjab Police Seize and Destroy Drugs Across the State

Punjab Police have destroyed a significant amount of narcotics across the state, including 83 kg of heroin, 10,000 kg of poppy husk, 100 kg of ganja, and 4.52 lakh pills at 10 different locations.

Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, inspected the drug disposal operations at Punjab Chemical and Crop Protection Limited in Dera Bassi, SAS Nagar. The ongoing disposal covers drug seizures from districts such as Kapurthala, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Roopnagar, and others.

According to DGP Yadav, these drug consignments, related to 626 cases, are being disposed of transparently across the state.

Recently, Punjab Police has disposed of substantial quantities of narcotics since the formation of the AAP government, including 2,700 kg of heroin, 3,450 kg of opium, 1.77 lakh kg of poppy husk, 1.40 crore pills, and 2 lakh injections. The most recent disposal took place statewide on June 7.

DGP Yadav urged the public to steer clear of narcotics, emphasizing the life-threatening risks of drug addiction. He called on residents to collaborate with Punjab Police by reporting any instances of drug smuggling or distribution.

“Let us unite in our unwavering commitment to combat drugs, safeguard our youth, families, and future,” he reiterated, underscoring Punjab Police’s dedication to making Punjab a drug-free state.
