Enforcement Directorate
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday carried out coordinated raids at 18 locations across Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, targeting a suspected Rs.500 crore scam related to medical supplies.
The investigation focuses on Mokshit Corporation and senior officials from the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC) and Directorate of Health Services (DHS).
Searches were conducted in Raipur, Durg, and surrounding areas at premises connected to officials from CGMSC and DHS, as well as medical suppliers and others implicated in the alleged fraud. The ED is probing violations under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The case involves questionable purchases of medical equipment and reagent chemicals in 2023. Authorities allege that the accused collaborated with CGMSC officials to secure favorable rate contracts and then manipulated the procurement process to place purchase orders worth approximately Rs 500 crore.
This scheme reportedly led to a loss of Rs.550 crore to the state government.
These raids aim to uncover concrete evidence of financial misconduct, fraudulent procurement, and a corrupt nexus between private firms and public officials that compromised the state’s healthcare procurement system.
