The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a search at the Delhi residence of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, leading to the seizure of Rs 36 lakh, an SUV, and several “incriminating” documents, as per official sources on Tuesday.

The federal agency carried out the search at the 5/1 Shanti Niketan residence of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader in south Delhi on Monday, remaining there for almost 13 hours, as part of an inquiry into a money laundering case related to an alleged land deal in Jharkhand. During the extensive operation, ED teams confiscated approximately Rs 36 lakh in cash, a BMW with an HR (Haryana) number plate registered under a “benami” name, and various “incriminating” documents.

Hemant Soren has informed the ED that he is ready to depose before them on Wednesday at his Ranchi residence around 1 pm.

In Ranchi, a party official disclosed that all legislators from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led ruling alliance in Jharkhand were instructed to stay in the state capital and attend a meeting on Tuesday to deliberate on the current political scenario in the state.
