The Supreme Court has recently denied the request to cancel the bail granted to Manasukhbhai Valjibhai Topiya, who issued tickets to the visitors present on the day of the Morbi incident in Gujarat.
Additionally, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition challenging the bail granted by the Gujarat High Court, which aimed to contest the decision.
In the presence of Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justices J.B. Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra, the counsel for Tragedy Victim Association, expressed disagreement with the argument put forth by the petitioner’s counsel that the High Court had wrongly granted bail to the accused.
While dismissing the plea to cancel the bail granted to Manasukhbhai Valjibhai Topiya, who issued the tickets, the Chief Investigating Officer stated, “He was merely selling tickets.”
As a matter of fact, on the 21st of November last year, the apex court had declared the incident of the Morbi bridge collapse as a significant tragedy.
In Morbi, Gujarat, the British-era bridge collapsed on the Machchu River on October 30th last year, resulting in the unfortunate demise of 141 individuals.
