NCW Summons Ranveer Allahabadia, Samay Raina, Others; Hearing On February 17

The National Commission for Women on Tuesday summoned YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia, comedian Samay Raina, and several others concerning allegedly “derogatory and racist” remarks made during the online program “India’s Got Latent.”

The hearing is scheduled for February 17, 2025.

In an official statement, the NCW underscored the severity of the remarks, characterizing them as offensive and inappropriate. The Commission specifically identified Ranveer Allahabadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchlani, alongside the show’s producers, Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, as responsible for the content that has provoked widespread public backlash.

“These remarks have generated significant public condemnation and are antithetical to the principles of dignity and mutual respect that underpin a just and egalitarian society,” the NCW asserted.

Under the directive of NCW Chairperson Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar, the Commission has mandated the personal appearance of all implicated individuals for the hearing. The summoned parties—Mr. Ranveer Allahabadia, Mr. Samay Raina, Ms. Apoorva Makhija, Mr. Jaspreet Singh, Mr. Ashish Chanchlani, Mr. Tushar Poojari, and Mr. Saurabh Bothra—must provide formal statements regarding their involvement in the incident.

The hearing, scheduled for February 17, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the NCW headquarters in New Delhi, will critically examine the nature and implications of the remarks.

The proceedings will determine whether legal or regulatory measures are warranted under prevailing statutes governing hate speech and public morality.
