A new law has replaced the Indian Telegraph Act of 1885 and the Indian Wireless Telegraph Act of 1933. The Telecommunication Act 2023 took effect on June 26th. The updated telecom legislation addresses advancements in telecommunications technology by eliminating the licensing system and introducing a framework that suits the needs of our times.
According to the Act, any telecom company wishing to build or operate telecommunications networks, offer services, or possess related equipment must obtain authorization from the government.
