NGT Suggests Encouraging Both Electric And Hybrid Transportation To Curb Pollution

NGT

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has recently recommended that hybrid vehicles, in addition to pure electric vehicles, should also be promoted to reduce pollution from the transportation sector.
In its March 27 order pertaining to the operation of hot-mix plants, the NGT stated, “Electric vehicles should be aggressively promoted. However, until battery EVs take over, strong hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) that blend fuel and electric power and are significantly more fuel-efficient should be promoted.”

It’s one of the several recommendations to reduce pollution from the transportation sector.

The NGT has directed the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), all relevant ministries, departments, states and union territories (Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and West Bengal), and other stakeholders to prepare a road map for implementing the recommendations within three months.
