Nitish Kumar Assembly Remarks: Complaint Files with Bihar Assembly Speaker

Nitish Kumar

A complaint has been filed with the Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker, Awadh Bihari Choudhary, against the State Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar.

The complaint pertains to remarks made by the Bihar CM concerning women’s education and population control during his speech in the state assembly on November 7, 2023.

According to the complaint filed by social activist Charu Jindal, Nitish Kumar’s statement is deeply offensive, objectionable, and condemnable, and it has seriously compromised the dignity of the women representatives in the assembly, as well as all the women who witnessed the video.

Jindal expressed her dismay, stating, “It is shameful that the CM, as a representative of the people, failed to choose appropriate words to express his thoughts and instead made statements and gestures that are indecent, vulgar, and humiliating. It is disgraceful that individuals in such high positions are publicly undermining the dignity of women.”

Subsequently, on November 8, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar issued an apology for his remarks. He told reporters that he did not intend to show disrespect to women and offered to retract his words if they had offended anyone.

In response to his apology, Jindal asserted, “A mere apology, after publicly shaming the dignity of women in the Vidhan Sabha, where his remarks were accompanied by the laughter of other representatives, has placed all women in an embarrassing situation. Apologies alone are insufficient in addressing the consequences of this.”

Therefore, the complainant is urging the Bihar Assembly Speaker to take strict action against Nitish Kumar for making highly vulgar and humiliating statements.
