In response to a rise in underage driving incidents leading to serious accidents and fatalities nationwide, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate has issued a strong warning to parents and guardians.
An official statement from the Noida Police, highlighted the illegal and hazardous nature of minors driving motor vehicles. This directive follows numerous alarming incidents involving underage drivers in the region.
The statement affirmed, “It is illegal for minors to operate 2-wheelers or 4-wheelers under any circumstances.”
Parents or guardians allowing minors to drive without a valid license will face severe penalties. These penalties include fines up to Rs 25,000, potential legal action under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, and vehicle registration cancellation for up to 12 months.
Additionally, underage drivers caught breaking the law will be barred from obtaining a driver’s license until they turn 25.
The police have launched an enforcement campaign involving stringent checks to deter underage driving throughout the city. The initiative aims to raise awareness among residents about the consequences of disregarding traffic laws and the importance of compliance for community safety.
As the crackdown continues, authorities emphasize the crucial role of parental responsibility in promoting road safety and preventing underage individuals from jeopardizing themselves and others through unauthorized vehicle use.
