Noida Police has apprehended a 35-year-old man for allegedly killing his 50-year-old live-in partner on suspicion of her involvement with other men, as per police officials.
The accused, Gautam, and the deceased, Vineeta, resided together in Sector 42, as stated by the police. They had been in a relationship for the past three years following the demise of Vineeta’s husband, they further added.
“On Tuesday night, following a heated argument between the two, the accused physically assaulted her, resulting in her loss of consciousness. Subsequently, he vacated the premises,” a senior police officer stated.
“Later, when locals assisted in transporting the woman to a hospital, she was pronounced dead by medical professionals,” the officer continued. An FIR under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 302 (murder) was registered at the Sector 39 police station.
A thorough investigation ensued, leading to the tracking down and apprehension of Gautam, the officer confirmed.
During interrogation, the accused recounted the altercation that escalated into a physical altercation. He expressed suspicions about Vineeta’s alleged involvement with other men as well, the officer elaborated.
The police informed that the body has been dispatched for post-mortem examination, while the accused was presented before a local court which remanded him to judicial custody.
