Another partner of the Rajkot-based TRP game zone, where a tragic fire claimed the lives of 27 individuals last week, has been apprehended by the Gujarat police, an official revealed on Tuesday.
Dhaval Thakkar, the proprietor of Dhaval Corporation, which operated the TRP game zone along with five partners from Raceway Enterprises, was arrested from Abu Road in neighboring Rajasthan, disclosed Banaskantha Superintendent of Police Akshayraj Makwana. This latest arrest brings the total to four individuals apprehended in connection with the fire incident at the game zone on Saturday.
“Thakkar was apprehended from Abu Road in a joint operation conducted by the Rajkot and Banaskantha police last night,” remarked Makwana.
Earlier, the police had arrested Yuvrajsinh Solanki and Rahul Rathod, partners in Raceway Enterprises, along with game zone manager Nitin Jain. They were remanded to 14-day police custody by a Rajkot court on Monday.
An FIR has been lodged against six individuals – Thakkar, Solanki, Rathod, and Raceway Enterprises partners Ashoksinh Jadeja, Kiritsinh Jadeja, and Prakashchand Hiran in connection with the fire incident. They stand accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt to a person by an act endangering their life or personal safety), and 114 (abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment).
The state government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident and has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the kin of each deceased. Furthermore, the central government has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased individual.
