Panel Submits Final UCC Report To CM Dhami

CM Dhami

A 9-member panel on the Uniform Civil Code has submitted its final report to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the secretariat.

The panel, led by former chief secretary Shatrughan Singh, completed its work on October 7 after several meetings since its formation in February.

While the specifics of the report have not yet been made public, CM Dhami announced that the UCC is set to be implemented in Uttarakhand on November 9, coinciding with the state’s foundation day.

The report addresses four key areas: marriage, divorce, live-in relationships, and succession.

Dhami stated that the report will be sent to the legal department for review before it goes to the state cabinet for approval. He also mentioned plans for training government officers and employees involved in the implementation process.

Additionally, the CM introduced a mobile app designed to facilitate marriage registration, divorce applications, live-in relationships, and will creation, allowing residents to avoid multiple trips to government offices.

In response to criticism of the UCC from various political groups, Dhami dismissed the objections as baseless, asserting that opposition is driven by “political gains.”
