Suspended Jharkhand personnel IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan has been recently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and sent to judicial remand till May 25 in an alleged land scam case.
A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Ranchi sent Ranjan to custody. Therefore, on May 6, Ranjan was arrested by the ED in a case related to illegally grabbing & selling land in Ranchi.
Following his arrest, the Jharkhand government suspended Ranjan from his position as the Director of the Social Welfare Department in Jharkhand.
Thus, 7 accused persons have been arrested in the land scam case of the ED. They were produced in court and sentenced to judicial custody.
According to the ED, there is a nexus operating in this case that allegedly sold multiple plots by forming documents.
ED sources stated that even the rightful owners are unaware that their plots have been sold.
