Police Arrests 5 Bangladeshi Nationals for Illegal Entry into Indian Territory

Five Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended from Tripura’s Khowai district for illegally entering Indian territory without any valid travel documents, as stated by a police officer on Monday.

Who are the Bangladeshi Nationals?

The five individuals from Bangladesh, identified as Litan Das (37), Babul Das (26), Pankaj Sarkar (18), Nikku Sarkar (22), and Rupan Das (26), entered Khowai after breaching the border fencing at Ashrambari, a border village, intending to reach Santirbazar in South Tripura district, the officer explained. “They breached the border fencing at Ashrambari to enter Indian territory. Upon their journey from Ashrambari to Santirbazar by vehicle, they were apprehended on Sunday,” stated the official. Due to their inability to furnish any passport or visa for entering Indian territory, they were detained and subsequently arrested.

Human Trafficking

The five Bangladeshi nationals arrested will be presented before the court on Monday, he added. Meanwhile, Hannan Miah, a resident of Sepahijala district, who was wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a human trafficking case, was apprehended from Rastarmatha on Sunday, confirmed Officer in Charge (OC) of Bishalgarh police station, Rana Chatterjee. The arrest was carried out based on a request from the NIA Guwahati office, he mentioned, further stating that the main perpetrator of the human trafficking case will be transferred to Guwahati on transit remand.

According to the police, Hannan, who had been evading arrest for several months, is the principal figure in a human trafficking case filed by NIA in Guwahati.
