Police Arrests Thai Woman for Operating Prostitution Racket in Thane

Police in Thane city of Maharashtra have arrested a woman from Thailand for allegedly running a prostitution racket, an official confirmed on Saturday.

The arrest followed a raid conducted at a hotel on Friday night, during which the police also rescued three Thai women, the official stated.

“Acting on a tip-off regarding a Thai woman involved in running a prostitution racket and trafficking women from her country, the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the police raided a hotel and apprehended her,” said DCP Shivraj Patil of the Crime Branch.

The three rescued Thai women were subsequently transferred to the Rescue Foundation at Poisar in Mumbai’s Borivali, he added.

The police have filed a case against the arrested woman under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, the official confirmed.
