Police Arrests Two Rajasthan Govt Officials in Bribery Case

Two project directors of the Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation (RSRDC) and a retired assistant accounts officer were apprehended while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh, stated an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official.

The accused individuals, executive engineer and project director Siyaram Chandrawat from Dholpur, executive engineer and project director Lakshman Singh from Bharatpur, and retired assistant accounts officer Mahesh Chand Gupta, currently employed as a consultant with the corporation, had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh for bill payments concerning construction work.

“A sting operation was initiated upon receiving information about the illicit transaction. All three suspects were caught red-handed with Rs 1.20 lakh,” disclosed ACB DGP Ravi Prakash Mehrada.

He further added that during the on-site inspection, Rs 1.11 lakh in cash was seized. Subsequently, a search at Gupta’s residence uncovered approximately Rs 92 lakh in cash along with a cash counting machine.

Additionally, Rs 32 lakh in cash was seized from Chandrawat’s residence. Mehrada mentioned that search operations are ongoing at the premises of other implicated individuals, including chief manager Sudhir Mathur and other officials, due to their suspected involvement
