Two individuals were apprehended following police raids conducted across Jammu in a significant crackdown against drug trafficking, an official stated.
The operations, spearheaded by Senior Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar, targeted locations including Sikanderpur Kothey, Akhnoor, Rajiv Nagar, Valmiki Nagar, Asrarabad, and Gole Gujral, as per a police spokesperson.
According to the spokesperson, based on disclosures made by the arrested drug peddler Navjot Singh, a police team led by the SSP searched the residences of Liaqat Ali and his brother Shokat Ali at Sikanderpur Kothey in the Bishnah area. The search yielded eight two-wheelers, a car, some narcotic substance, and a weighing machine.
The confiscated vehicles are suspected to be stolen, efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding brothers who supplied drugs to Singh.
Additionally, Shubham Sharma, another drug peddler, was apprehended from Bishnah along with a small quantity of narcotics, leading to the registration of a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against him, as per police sources. In a separate incident, Sahil Singh, also known as “Chotu”, a drug peddler, was arrested during vehicle checking at Old Bridge Akhnoor, with 3.4 grams of heroin recovered.
A two-wheeler was seized, and a case under the NDPS Act was registered against him, the police spokesperson stated. Additionally, three more individuals were detained for questioning from Rajiv Nagar and Valmiki Nagar.
