Pune Court: Life-Term Jail Sentenced To 9 Hindu Rashtra Sena Workers In Murder Case

The District Session court in Pune on Thursday sentenced nine convicts to life imprisonment in connection with the 2013 murder of politician Prakash Anna Jondhale in Pune’s Hadapsar area.

The District Session court judge KP Nandedkar awarded life imprisonment to convicts Vicky Jadhav, Vaibhav Bhadale, Akshay Ingulkar, Shrikant Atole, Amol Shegde, Rahul Kaule, Vicky Patil, Suraj Phadke, and Akash Shinde. They were all linked with the Hindu Rashtra Sena (HRS.

Speaking to ‘Legally Speaking’ Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told that all accused, holding them guilty under sections 302, 506-2 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act,” said Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

During the hearing the state government appointed senior counsel Advocate Ujjwal Nikam who appeared as special public prosecutor in this case stated, “the victim was brutally attacked, and the crime was heinous in nature. 

On July 8, 2013, Prakash Anna Jondhale, an active member of a political party, was murdered in Pune’s Hadapsar area.
