Pune Porche Crash Case: Police Arrests 2 For Blood Sample Manipulation

The Pune police have arrested 2 individuals in connection with the manipulation of blood samples in the high-profile “Pune Porsche crash” case, as confirmed by Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.

The arrests were made on Monday night by the Pune crime branch.

The two suspects are accused of swapping the blood samples of 2 friends who were with the main accused, a minor, at the time of the accident. They will be presented in court for remand on Tuesday. The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge.

This case stems from an incident on May 19, when a Porsche car, allegedly driven by a minor under the influence of alcohol, struck and killed two IT professionals in the Kalyani Nagar area of Pune. The case sparked national outrage, particularly after the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) granted bail to the minor on what were seen as excessively lenient terms, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety.

The backlash led the Women and Child Development Department to set up a panel to investigate the JJB members’ decision to grant bail to the minor. As part of his bail conditions, the minor was required to write an essay on road safety, emphasizing the importance of responsible driving and the dangers of reckless behavior.

The minor’s Porsche had collided with the two IT professionals, who were riding a motorcycle, killing them instantly on the night of the accident. In response to the incident, the Pune police filed a 900-page chargesheet against seven individuals, including the minor’s parents.

The ongoing case against the minor is being heard by the Juvenile Justice Board. Additionally, a case was registered against the minor’s parents, doctors from Sassoon Hospital, and two others for allegedly conspiring to tamper with evidence and manipulate the blood samples.
