Railway Police Apprehends Train Theft Gang in Mumbai

The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Friday claimed that they have apprehended a gang responsible for stealing from train passengers, resulting in the arrest of four individuals and the detection of 12 theft cases.

Originally hailing from Vellore in Tamil Nadu, the four men had targeted commuters traveling on the Badlapur-Dombivli-Titwala route, situated on the outskirts of Mumbai, according to an official statement.

Tip-Off Worked

On May 1, the GRP received a tip-off regarding four individuals behaving suspiciously near Platform No. 1 of Kalyan station. Following their apprehension, the police interrogated the suspects and uncovered their involvement in at least a dozen train theft incidents.

GRP senior inspectors Arshuddin Sheikh and Kiran Undre stated that the police recovered 11 mobile phones and a laptop, collectively valued at Rs 2.7 lakh, from the four arrested individuals: Satyaraj Onthurga (26), Krishna Ganesh (27), Skhativel Avaludan (27), and Ganesh Selvan (24).
