The Rajasthan police seized over 21 quintals of narcotics valued at approximately Rs 3.5 crore from a truck and apprehended the driver, according to officials.
The recovery occurred during a joint operation conducted by the Anti-Gangster Task Force and Sikar police in the Laxmangarh area of Sikar district on Saturday night, they further stated.
ADG (Crime) and head of the Anti-Gangster Task Force, Dinesh MN, reported that narcotics weighing over 21 quintals and worth Rs 3.50 crore were confiscated during the operation.
The police received information indicating that a truck loaded with poppy was en route to Bikaner, prompting authorities to chase and intercept the truck in Laxmangarh. Upon searching the vehicle, poppy weighing 2,178.8 kg was discovered concealed beneath bags of rice in 137 plastic packets, Dinesh added.
During questioning, the driver, Ashok Bishnoi, informed the police that the truck’s owners, Hariram Jat and Subhash Vishnoi, had loaded the material onto the truck and were traveling in a car ahead, officials relayed. While the truck owners managed to flee, the driver was apprehended, they concluded.
