Rameshwaram Cafe Blast: NIA Conducts Multi-State Raids

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted raids across multiple states regarding the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, officials confirmed.

The ‘Explosion’

The explosion, which occurred on March 1, inflicted injuries on several customers and hotel staff members, some critically, causing significant damage to the cafe located in the IT hub.

These raids were prompted by information suggesting links between certain suspects and those connected to the crime, according to officials. Among the areas targeted in the raids were Kumaraswamy Layout and Banashankari in Bengaluru.

“A series of raids are ongoing in various locations across multiple states,” stated a senior NIA official.

Arrests Made in the Case

The investigative agency, which assumed control of the case on March 3, had previously apprehended two key suspects on April 12, including the alleged mastermind Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taahaa. Taahaa, along with accomplice Mussavir Hussain Shazib, who is accused of planting the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the cafe, were apprehended from a lodge near Kolkata, where they were residing under false identities. Both individuals are purported members of the Islamic State module based in Shivamogga.

Officials also disclosed that another member of the same module, Shariq, was responsible for a blast in Mangaluru on November 19, 2022.
