Rape Accused Flees CISF Custody After Being Detained At IGI Airport: Delhi Police

The Delhi Police On Monday reported that a rape accused named Amandeep Singh escaped from the custody of Central Industrial Security Force personnel at Delhi’s IGI Airport, adding that the incident occurred on December 20.

On April 7, 2020, a lookout circular had been issued against Amandeep Singh, who is a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab.

This circular was issued subsequent to the registration of a case against him at Ludhiana’s City Khanna police station under Section 376 of the IPC.
Delhi Police said that Amandeep was detained at the IGI on his arrival from Bahrain.

The police explained that he was taken into the custody by on-duty CISF personnel, however, he managed to escape from the immigration area while the CISF personnel, escorting him, was in the washroom.

Following this escape, a case under Section 224 of the IPC was registered at the Delhi International Airport police station, and a search was underway as of the time of filing this report.
