Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani Receives Death Threat, FIR Filed

Mukesh Ambani

The Mumbai police have stated that Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, received a threatening email on Friday, which warned of his potential assassination if he did not pay a sum of Rs 20 crore.

In response to a complaint filed by Ambani’s security in-charge, an FIR (First Information Report) was registered against an unidentified individual at the Gamdevi police station.

The email conveyed a threat to Ambani, stating that failure to pay Rs 20 crore would result in a shooting incident. The case has been filed under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 387, which pertains to putting a person in fear of death or grievous harm to commit extortion, and 506 (2), related to criminal intimidation.

Law enforcement authorities have launched an extensive manhunt to apprehend the individual responsible for sending the threatening email. Notably, in the previous year, the Mumbai police had arrested an individual from Bihar’s Darbhanga for making death threats to Mukesh Ambani and his family members. The accused had also made threats to detonate the Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai.
