Rahul Gandhi
The case was filed by BJP leader Vijay Mishra on Tuesday, who accused Gandhi of making defamatory remarks about Amit Shah during the 2018 Karnataka election campaign.
The complaint, filed through Mishra’s lawyer Santosh Kumar Pandey, alleged that Gandhi’s comments were damaging to Shah’s reputation and integrity.
A warrant was issued against Gandhi in December 2023, prompting his appearance before the court in February 2024, where he was granted bail after furnishing sureties.
On July 26, 2024, Gandhi recorded his statement in court, denying the allegations and asserting that the case is part of a politically motivated attempt to malign his public image.
He argued that the complaint was designed to discredit him and hinder his political work.
