A former police officer has been apprehended under the Official Secrets Act for divulging ‘sensitive information’ in his recently released book, officials disclosed on Saturday.
Retired Superintendent of Police Mohammad Aslam Sheikh was detained from his residence in the Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu city late Friday night, the officials confirmed.
They noted that Sheikh had commenced his service in the police force as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in 1986 and retired just last year.
The officials further asserted that he had published a book containing copies of First Information Reports and other sensitive information, which contravenes the Official Secrets Act.
