The scam, which reportedly amounts to around ₹15,000 crore, as per the First Information Report filed in the matter, Mumbai police have registered a case against 32 persons in the case.
Regarding the same matter, the Mumbai police crime branch apprehended actor Sahil Khan in Chattisgarh. This action followed the recent dismissal of his anticipatory bail plea by the Bombay High Court.
An inquiry by the Enforcement Directorate revealed an extensive network facilitating illicit gambling across a range of activities managed by Mahadev Online Book. This illicit operation encompassed poker, card games, cricket, badminton, tennis, and even betting on Indian elections. Moreover, the platform provided various card games such as “Teen Patti,” poker, and “Dragon Tiger,” as well as virtual cricket matches. Allegations against the platform also include match-fixing, money laundering using cryptocurrency, and manipulation of games to guarantee profits for administrators and significant losses for participants.
For four years, the Mahadev betting app offered an array of games, lotteries, and betting opportunities catering to a diverse audience. Its offerings ranged from predicting election outcomes and weather forecasts to wagering on game matches. Throughout this period, the company persisted in running rigged betting operations.
An FIR was lodged against Khan, accusing him of endorsing online betting apps and asserting that “he had direct involvement with an online betting application.”
Sahil Khan was apprehended from Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh on Saturday, following the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea by the Bombay High Court. The court emphasized that Sahil Khan had direct involvement with an online betting application.
Earlier in the week, the actor underwent questioning by the SIT for more than four hours regarding the case.
