Supreme Court Advocate Vineet Jindal has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police Cyber Cell against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the leader of the banned organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).
The complaint stems from Advocate Jindal’s observation of a circulating video in which Pannun issues threats to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Parliament.
In the video, Pannun explicitly declares SFJ’s intent to target the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup and ominously dubs it the ‘Terror World Cup.’ Pannun further asserts that his associates, who are aligned with the Khalistani movement, have arrived in Delhi from Canada with the purpose of targeting Prime Minister Modi and the Parliament House.
It is worth noting that on September 29, the Gujarat police also filed an FIR against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun for the same threatening video message.
Pannu’s video message included threats to disrupt the ICC Cricket World Cup, which is set to take place on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The FIR, filed by the Ahmedabad police’s cybercrime branch, reveals that individuals across the country received a menacing pre-recorded voice message from Pannun via an international phone number. This message prompted recipients to report it to law enforcement through various channels.
The recorded message ominously proclaimed that October 5 would mark the commencement of the “World Terror Cup” instead of the Cricket World Cup, with Sikhs for Justice vowing to display Khalistani flags in Ahmedabad. The message also made references to seeking retribution for the assassination of Shaheed Nijjar and pledged to employ ballots instead of violence and votes rather than aggression.
The FIR underscores that Gurpatwant Singh Pannun holds the designation of a terrorist according to the Government of India. He operates an organization known as Sikhs for Justice from a foreign country. Pannun’s actions are explicitly aimed at sowing fear, fomenting discord between Sikhs and other communities in India, and engaging in terrorist activities within the country, particularly on social media platforms such as TwitterX.
The Cricket World Cup 2023 is slated to commence at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5. This threatening message emerges amid a diplomatic dispute between India and Canada concerning the alleged assassination of designated terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, on June 18.
