Actor Shah Rukh Khan received a death threat on Thursday, accompanied by a demand for Rs.50 lakh, prompting the Mumbai police to file an FIR.
An extortion case has been registered at the Bandra Police Station under sections 308(4) and 351(3)(4) of the Bombay Police Act.
According to the Mumbai police, the threatening call has been traced to Raipur, Chhattisgarh. In response, police teams from Mumbai have departed for Raipur to conduct further investigations.
Although there has been no official confirmation from the Mumbai police regarding the call’s origin, a Raipur police official stated that they were notified about the threat against Khan.
CSP Civil Lines Ajay Kumar reported that the Mumbai police visited the Pandri Police Station in Raipur to inform local authorities about the registered crime. “They indicated that a threat was made against Shah Rukh Khan, along with a demand for money,” he said.
The Mumbai police issued a notice to one Faiyaz Khan, identified as the person threatening Shah Rukh Khan, but no details about his arrest have emerged yet.
Further details revealed that the individual implicated in the threat is Mohammad Faizan Khan, an advocate. He reportedly made the threatening call to the Bandra Police Station on November 5, following a complaint about his phone being lost on November 2.
“We will investigate this matter thoroughly, and the Mumbai police are also involved in the inquiry,” Kumar added.
This incident follows a troubling trend in which fellow actor Salman Khan has also received multiple death threats.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has targeted Salman over his alleged involvement in the killing of a blackbuck, demanded Rs.5 crore in ransom as part of their threats.
In light of these serious threats, the police have intensified their investigations. A case has been registered at Worli Police Station concerning the threats against Salman Khan, with authorities actively tracing the phone number associated with the messages. “We are taking these threats seriously, and the process of investigating the messages is underway,” a spokesperson for the Mumbai Police confirmed.
As investigations continue, both Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan’s safety remain a priority for the authorities, reflecting the heightened concern over threats against public figures in the film industry. The police’s prompt response aims to ensure the safety of these high-profile actors and maintain public confidence in their ability to protect against such threats.
