Shahbad dairy murder: Rohini Court in Delhi takes cognizance

The Rohini Court in Delhi has taken cognizance of charge sheet submitted by the police against Sahil, the accused in the Shahbad dairy murder case. The court has scheduled arguments on the matter for July 20.

Sahil was apprehended for allegedly brutally murdering a minor girl in the Shahbad Dairy area on May 28. The incident took place in public view and was captured on CCTV cameras. The accused was arrested within 24 hours of committing the crime. The Fast Track Special Judge (POCSO) Richa Gusain Solanki of the Rohini Court acknowledged the charge sheet presented by the Delhi police.

The court has appointed advocate CM Sangwan as amicus curiae to assist in representing the accused. The hearing on the charges will take place on July 20. None of Sahil’s family members were present during the hearing. The Delhi police filed a charge sheet against Sahil on June 27, citing various sections including murder, outraging the modesty of a woman, insulting a woman, and relevant sections of the Arms Act and POCSO Act.

The charge sheet consists of 640 pages and includes scientific evidence such as CCTV footage, voice samples, and biological evidence, along with the FSL Report. A copy of the charge sheet has been provided to the accused. Sahil, who was identified through CCTV footage, was arrested on May 29 from Barwala in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr. Following police interrogation, he has been in judicial custody.
