The Special Investigation Team on Thursday requested the Karnataka High Court to conduct an in-camera hearing for the bail and anticipatory bail applications of former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault.
During the hearing, Special Public Prosecutor Ravivarma Kumar emphasized the need for in-camera proceedings to protect the identity of the victims. Justice M Nagaprasanna indicated that the decision on this request would be taken by the Chief Justice. Prajwal’s legal counsel also sought additional time, leading to an adjournment of the hearing until September 5.
The court highlighted the seriousness of the charges against Prajwal, who has been in judicial custody since May 31 after returning from Germany. The SIT has filed a detailed charge sheet, supported by statements from 150 witnesses, focusing particularly on the alleged sexual assault of a domestic worker.
